Japanese Nishikimatsume “Kōhō” Marked Faceted Lidded Porcelain Bowl

THB 106.74

A compact Japanese covered porcelain bowl or food container with a faceted, near-octagonal profile and a knop lid. Its white ground is decorated in cobalt blue, iron red, green, and gold-tone enamels with alternating floral and ornamental panels. The blue lid inscription appears to read “錦松梅 光峰作” (Nishikimatsume, Kōhō saku). Nishikimatsume is a Japanese food brand known for presenting its products in reusable ceramic containers; this makes the object best catalogued as branded commercial presentation ware rather than as a proven studio vessel. Similar examples are commonly offered as Arita ware, but the photos and mark alone do not securely establish the kiln, maker, or production district. No dimensions or weight are inferred.
