Tachikichi “Windmill” Blue and Red Porcelain Rice Bowl

THB 226.88

A small Japanese porcelain rice bowl, probably marketed by Tachikichi (たち吉), bearing the blue mark 「橘吉」 beneath the foot. The white bowl has a neatly proportioned footed form, an orange-red rim line, and lively stylized windmill/pinwheel motifs in blue, red-orange, and yellow around the exterior; a single related motif decorates the interior well. The exact pattern name is strongly supported as “windmill” by a current Tachikichi-marked comparable, but the original catalogue, factory, and production date have not been verified. No measurements are inferred from the photographs.

Object details

Condition
Very good
Photographs show a glossy, intact-looking bowl with no clearly visible chips, hairlines, or restoration. Minor light surface wear/speckling and a small orange-brown spot in the interior well are visible. The foot and rim should be inspected in hand before sale.
Noted imperfections
Visible only: light surface wear/speckling and one small orange-brown spot in the interior. No underside photograph or close rim inspection was supplied.
Origin
Japan, probable. The visible 橘吉 mark supports attribution to Tachikichi, a Kyoto-based Japanese tableware brand/distributor, but photographs alone do not establish the manufacturing kiln or prefecture.
Kiln / maker
Tachikichi (たち吉 / 橘吉), probable brand attribution; no individual potter or manufacturing kiln identified.
Estimated era
Late 20th to early 21st century, tentatively circa 1980–2010.
